About Bereavement Care Services Ltd

Bereavement Care Services Limited was established in 1995, to provide quality Mortality Management services to South Auckland Health. Since then, the service has developed into an integral member of South Auckland Health by contributing high quality care and service to patients their families and South Auckland Health staff.

South Auckland Health is the major provider of public health services for the 350,000 people who live in South and East Auckland. South Auckland Health has a total of around 850 inpatient beds. Middlemore Hospital that operates 750 beds, is the largest inpatient facility. Adjacent to Middlemore Hospital is the newly commissioned 82-bed children's hospital, Kidz First.

The concept of Bereavement Care Services arose after identifying the need to develop an integrated end-to-end solution, focused on improving service standards in the specialist area of caring for deceased patients. This was in regards to both the families involved, and the hospital staff within the healthcare environment. It was a desire to provide a consistently high quality service that set a benchmark for future of mortality management, that Bereavement Care Services was formed.

The Mortality Management system that we have developed is unique, providing a complete mortality management solution for all services within the public healthcare sector. Our service addresses the full spectrum of all issues from pre death to post death process facilitation. Our solution focuses on assessment, support and information for patients, families, staff and external agencies, enhanced by ISO 9001 accredited systems and procedures.
